Bhaji in Problem Movie Review, Review of Punjabi Movie Bhaji in Problem starring Gippy Grewal, Bhaji in Problem Movie Review,Movie Review Bhaji in Problem,
A rip-roaring laughter riot, the year’s most awaited movie (after Jatt and Juliet 2), Bhaji in Problem is a madcap entertainer that gets the audience giggling, yelling, whistling and applauding in their seats. This is one movie where you can almost see everybody around you, madly engaged in the chaos and and seeking maximum pleasure from the on-screen happenings. If you are a moviegoer who derives pleasure from loud comedies with over-the-top humor, I am sure, you will relish this wacky slapstick.
Movie Rating: 4 out of 5
Besides the obvious fact that this movie marks the debut of Akshay Kumar in our Ballewood (both as an actor and a producer), Bhaji in Problem, works because of many other reasons. Director Smeep Kang takes giant strides as a narrator, balancing the two halves deftly. The screenplay by Naresh Kathuria is engaging from commencement to conclusion and along with a set of impeccably cast actors, it's one joy ride you can't afford to miss. Having said that I'd like to add that the movie loses some steam [for a few minutes] in the post-interval portions, but, thankfully, Bhaji in Problem doesn't get unbalanced. The movie accomplishes what it sets out to do -- it enlightens and entertains and that is what everyone expects from a comic entertainer...right?
Talking about the plot, the movie centres around a man called, Sundeep Cheema (Gurpreet Ghuggi) who is married to two women—both of them unaware of the existence of the other. Both the wives think that it’s Cheema’s business reasons that he has to be away—half of the times! While Sundeep is leading a happy life, the balance of his duality gets threatened when Jeeta (Gippy Grewal) comes into his life. Jeeta falls head over heels for Preet (Ragini Khanna), a match that Sundeep is dead set against. Sundeep is aware of Jeeta’s notorious past, and Jeeta is privy to Sundeep’s dual existence. And so the battle begins. In this comedy of errors both sides know the deepest and the most intimate secrets of the other. It is a battle of wits and charm wherein one hilarious situation unfolds after another as the 2 friends get into more and more problems.
The heart of the movie is no doubt, Gurpreet Ghuggi whose one-liners are truly hilarious. His comic timing, his screen presence, and expressions that he gives are amazing. The actor is sure in a terrific form! The hero, Gippy Grewal is exceptional, his satirical remarks make the audience roll down from the chairs. His entry in the film is fantastic as he displays mindblowing action that once again proves that Gippy Grewal is the real action hero of Punjab. The man puts in such an amazing performance that it has now become difficult to decide now whether Gippy is a better singer or an actor? And now, we come to Akshay Kumar! Oh God, all the moments when he is on the screen, I am sure you can’t stop giggling or even jumping out of your seats. His dance on 'Ishq zehreela' is so good and full of energy that you really wish if this song could be a little longer. But such a small role of such an amazing actor from Bollywood, leaves a little disappointed and wanting for more and we really wish to see him on Punjabi film screen again! Amongst the female leads, Khushboo Grewal has the meatiest role and gives a decent performance. The heroine, Ragini Khanna acts more as an eye candy and has barely 3-4 scenes and I think not more than 10 dialogues in the entire movie. Om Puri is efficient yet again, his act is superb and comedy flawless. Harbhajan Singh is cute in a small role. Karamjit Anmol is fantastic. Misha Bajwa (as Ghuggi’s second wife) does display an awesome performance too and so does the lady (who played Om Puri’s wife). B.N. Sharma provides some good doses of laughter as well. Rana Jung Bahadur and Avatar Gill are perfect in their roles!
The review of the film will be incomplete if we don’t mention anything about the music. The music by Jatinder Shah is better than expected. ‘Ishq Zehreela’ and “Ghar di Sharaab” both are addictive.
Any flaws in the movie? Yes! The movie ends ABRUPTLY. We never really come to know what happened to the Jodi of Harbhajan Singh and Japji Khaira in the end. We wonder, why Bhajji wasn’t brought in the climax? Also, the lead heroine, Ragini Khanna was practically non-existent.
On the whole, if your idea of watching a comedy is to have a good time at the movies, then Bhaji in Problem is especially designed for you. However, to some intellectuals and scholars of cinema, this genre of cinema may appear nonsensical and these films are often written off as low-IQ comedies. But do the commoners really care? As long as you are assured of sufficient tummy laughs that's all that actually matters. So if a handful of critics plan to disgrace wacky comedies, it barely matters!
Now the only thing to see ahead is, will this movie prove to be a money spinner at the box-office as well? According to us, it’s a super-hit all the way! A clean family entertainer with no double meaning dialogues and item numbers!
