Dishkiyaoon starring Sunny Deol, Harman Baweja released 28th march is getting negative critic review. Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama gave only 1.5/5 rating to Dishkiyaoon. In his own words, ‘Come to think of it, the trailer makes you believe that the debutant director is sure to spring a couple of surprises, but the predicament is DISHKIYAOON is marred by a laborious screenplay that doesn’t seem to go anywhere. There’s a twist in the tale towards the final moments of the film, but barring this sequence as well as the emotional outburst by Harman, the film doesn’t really work. In addition, like most first-time efforts, the substance takes a backseat, while style takes precedence here. Ideally, it should’ve been the other way around. On the whole, DISHKIYAOON misses the mark!’
Dishkiyaoon, is definitely an apt title for this movie. The movie is abundant in “Dishkiyaoon” and good acting including that of the underrated Harman Baweja, to the veteran Sunny Deol. The movie’s plot is cliched- Gangsters, murders, drugs and more murders. The debutant director promises to deliver a lot many surprises and thrills, as shown in the promos, but ultimately fails to. There is a twist in the tale (another cliche) towards the end of the movie. Harman Baweja’s emotional outburst is the noticeable act and there are parts of the movie which would be liked by all. All the gangsters are introduced and everyone seems equally annoying and ambitious. The screenplay was as bad as it could ever be. The movie will NOT be liked by the family audiences and will not do well in the multiplexes but will definitely make money in the Single Screen Theatres.
Film critic Komal Nahata wrote the film is quite unpalatable for the womenfolk and the family audiences. On the whole, Dishkiyaoon is a dull fare and will, therefore, bomb at the box-office.
